Most physicians typically clamp and slice the umbilical cord rigtht after delivery.

Each baby’s umbilical cord will either become clamped immediately or the clamping will become delayed for 120 seconds post-delivery. The research team will then monitor the children’s improvement for two years, comparing differences between the combined groups. ‘Our group will examine whether potential differences in blood product exposure between your two groups, & most importantly, if those variations are connected with meaningful medical outcomes,’ said Dr. Backes. ‘We suspect that delayed clamping provides additional benefits apart from improving hematocrit levels, and we may discover something new about how the physical body helps heal itself.’..The authors designed the scholarly study, oversaw data collection, performed the analyses, prepared the manuscript for publication, and made the decision to send the manuscript for publication without input from or evaluate by Philips Respironics, which donated equipment found in the study. All the authors vouch for the completeness and accuracy of the data. Eligibility Patients 45 to 75 years of age who were signed up for cardiology practices at the four participating medical centers were screened for obstructive rest apnea by using the Berlin questionnaire, which includes three categories of questions related to the risk of rest apnea: snoring and cessation of breathing, daytime sleepiness, and hypertension or obesity.
